Barka Fort
Barka Fort was a new trip for First Grade this year and it did not disappoint. The Fort is adjacent to the Fish Souq and is large, well-maintained and boasts many interesting features. The children were particularly fascinated by the cannons pointing out of windows in the fort towers. A well system that stocked the water for all the inhabitants was also explained by an informative guide and we learned that it had been built in two different phases. An Omani treasure!
Seeb Beach
Our morning at the beach was full of play and FUN! Children had a great time digging in the sand, burying toes, wave jumping, playing catch and just being together as a large, first grade group. The day was mild, the water lovely and spirits high.

Our Visit to the Farm
Our second Discover Oman trip took us to the Dharamsey Farm near Barka. The farm had an amazing array of animals such as cows, horses, goats, camels, birds, rabbits, and very cute, little puppies! We were able to see many different types of trees like mango, "boara" (a type of berry), chiko, lemon, papaya, and banana. The garden also boasted numerous vegetables, herbs and other growing plants such as radishes, squash, tomatoes, dill, and chili peppers. Thanks to their gracious hospitality, our trip was a huge success!
