Wax Museum
1DS had the opportunity to take a very informative walk through history at the marvelous fifth grade wax museum. We met numerous celebrities from the past like Pablo Picasso, John F. Kennedy and even Elvis Presley who proceeded to enlighten us regarding key moments and achievements from their lives. Bravo!
Hmmmm....
Now, how did all of those cute and furry, little zoo animals get inside TAISM? Must have something to do with Nicola Davies :)

Making the Owls
This is coming in a bit backwards, but here we are in our prepping phase for Nicola Davies visit.....making the owls! What fun!
Water Cycle
On Thursday of last week, 1DS created a solar still to see the water cycle in action, up close and personal. A tub was filled roughly half way with soil and then, an empty cup was placed in the center and on top of the soil. We added water to the soil, but not in the cup! Then, plastic wrap was affixed to cover the entire top of the tub, thereby trapping all moisture inside. A rock was placed on top of the plastic wrap, directly over the cup, to create a small depression. We are hoping to see the effects of evaporation and condensation, as precipitation will fall from the "sky" and into our cup. Ask your child about these new vocabulary words!
