Living Things Guest Speakers

1DS had the special privilege of having two guest speakers visit our classroom last week.  Mrs. Johnson, middle school science teacher, spoke to us about the unique features that camels possess to make them able to adapt and thrive in a harsh, desert habitat.  Students marveled at their two sets of eyelashes and the way in which a camel's nostrils can open and close to keep out sand.  Later in the week, Tania Al-Said shared her knowledge of animals found in Oman such as the oryx, sea turtles, the Arabian humpback whale and dolphins.  Many of these wonderful creatures need our help to live safely alongside humans.  She reminded us of the importance of keeping our waters and land clean and free from trash that can be fatal to animals.  Thank you so much for taking your time to teach us new things about the living things all around us!
